Core Values (S.C.A.R.S.)
Every person is created in the image of God, and therefore, possesses a unique set of qualities. It’s our responsibility at North Rome Christian School to support and guide each student on a journey of discovery, assist each child in making application of his or her unique gifts through the educational process, and develop the character traits of patience and steadfastness for this lifelong process of learning their God given abilities, direction, and vocation. The key is to live each day with the realization that only what is done for eternity matters (James 4:14; Matt. 6:33; Matt. 6:19-21). We have developed the following Core Values that we hope to instill in every student at NRCS.
Scriptural Reverence & Respect
The Bible is the standard by which we think, speak, act, and live. All we do, teach, and learn is rooted in the Bible (Hebrews 4:12; II Timothy 2:15; Psalm 111:10).
Teaching God’s Word, and instructing how to apply God’s Word, is essential to education, where:
a. All truth is God’s truth.
b. It is important to have knowledge of and appreciation for the attributes of God.
c. The work of the Holy Spirit is significant.
d. Prayer is essential.
e. Every individual is of value; all are uniquely created in the image of God.
f. A personal relationship with Christ is essential.
All that we do revolves around the person and work of Jesus Christ, as revealed in the Word of God. We incorporate biblical integration across our entire curriculum, and our primary desired outcome for each student is that they would know Christ, love Him through a personal relationship, serve Him with their whole heart, and share Christ with those to whom they come in contact. A Christian, faith-based education is essential to the achievement of our values.
Unity is supremely precious to God. He bestows His blessing and His anointing where believers dwell together in one accord. Unity comes from having the mind of Christ and the same purpose. As believers, we are called to make a diligent effort to love one another and live in peace (Psalm 133; Ephesians 4:1-5).
Our institution and curriculum values learning and achievement. Instructors teach our children by example the importance of inquiry, investigation, discovery, study, critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and diligence in the pursuit of learning (Colossians 3:23). We make every effort to hold our students to high academic expectations; believing each one has the ability to succeed. We endeavor to follow best practices in our teaching; utilizing current, relevant trends in education and integrating technology into the classroom (2 Corinthians 8:7).
Integration directly relating to the subject matter is used to make each subject more significant, and reveals the glory, purpose, and mind of God in relation to all academic subjects.
Academic excellence maximizes a student’s potential by pursuing the highest quality personnel and curricular programs. Providing educational excellence demands a purposeful and strategic pursuit of our God in every aspect of the educational process.
Every aspect of curriculum should be permeated with God’s Word, including teaching on…
a. The natural world.
b. Human history and God’s activity in it.
c. Humanity, its cultures, and how we are to live in the world.
Our teachers provide Christian instruction and serve as role models for our students through the God honoring virtues of integrity, honesty, and loyalty. These will help instructors enhance our ability to communicate effectively, teach thoroughly, maintain responsibility, and be respectful in and outside of the academic setting.
A biblically consistent education must be modeled as well as taught. Therefore, all faculty and staff…
a. Are born-again Christians who model Christ,
b. Embody excellence,
c. Demonstrate a servant’s heart,
d. Serve in harmony, and
e. Engage only in activities consistent with biblical truth.
We believe children are our parents’ greatest treasures. Parents have chosen to entrust us with the care of their child. It is our responsibility to be faithful with that trust. We partner with and support parents in the training and instruction of their children.
North Rome Christian School exists to support parents and the church in fulfilling the parent’s biblical responsibility to educate children (Deut. 6:6-9). We pledge to provide the most effective, biblio-centric education directed toward giving your child our best every day.
As servant-leaders, we recognize our calling to influence culture for good. We seek to develop critical reasoning and biblical action to equip our students to impact the world for Christ. We strive to connect our students and programming to the community. We view ourselves as partners with local churches in raising a generation of spiritual leaders and world-changers. We strive to be service-minded, on both a local and a global level. Community service to our neighboring boroughs, towns, and cities is what we claim as our mission field.
We instruct students:
To view life and live life from God’s perspective,
To have a selfless attitude to serve others,
To live out Christian values, attitudes, and beliefs in every aspect of life,
To be diligent to love one another and live in peace while having the same mind and purpose in Christ, and
To choose to live a lifestyle of integrity with God-given purpose through a biblical worldview (Ephesians 1:18-19).
NRCS is compelled to be firm, fair, and consistent in committing our unconditional love to each child, and to create the ultimate objective of developing a lifelong passion for learning.
